Marilyn Monroe has been my idol ever since I can remember... My room is covered in her photos, I absolutely adore her films and now she is the ambassador of my favourite make up brand. When I first found out about the partnership it make me wonder whether it will work or not. After seeing the photos in shops of Max Factor's make up counters- I am happy Max Factor's creative director Pat McGrath has transformed brand ambassador Candice Swanepoel into the Hollywood star for this campaign, as it works beautifully. The make up in the photo is Monroe's iconic look - classic red lips, perfectly arched brows and eyeliner flicks. A look that all of us have tried at some point, whether that's to go on a date or a night out. It is a look that will never go out of fashion, and is definitely iconic. Just like Marilyn Monroe.
"Marilyn made the sultry red lip, creamy skin and dramatically lined eyes the most famous beauty look of the Forties and it's a look that continues to dominate the beauty and fashion industry," said McGrath when the collaboration was announced. "It is the ultimate look that defines glamour - nothing else compares. Ruby Tuesday, inspired by one of Marilyn's favourite Max Factor lipsticks, is still my go-to red today for an instant shot of glamour, and continues to be one of the most popular shades for both make-up artists and real women."
"Along with the Colour Elixir Lipstick in Ruby Tuesday, key products include the Excess Intensity Longwear Eye Liner in Black, False Lash Effect Mascara and Colour Elixir Lip Pencil in Red Rush."
Max Factor has also previously turned Swanepoel's fellow brand ambassador Gwyneth Paltrow into Madonna.
MAX FACTOR has certainly put Gwyneth Paltrow through her paces since signing her as its "creative inspiration" in 2012, and the latest collaboration between the two has seen the actress transformed into Audrey Hepburn, Brigitte Bardot, Farrah Fawcett and Madonna for a new campaign. Since Max Factor himself (born Maksymilian Faktorowicz) worked with so many of Hollywood's key names, including Clara Bow, Jean Harlow and Judy Garland, the brand is celebrating over 100 years of glamour with the new images, which features key looks from the Fifties, Sixties, Seventies and Eighties.
"I remember being with my mum [actress Blythe Danner] on film sets and watching her get her make-up done," said Paltrow of her own first experience of the beauty industry. "There's a picture of me sitting on her lap in a make-up chair trying to do her lipstick. I was always in that world of make-up and make-up artists."
Now, Paltrow has Max Factor's global creative design director Pat McGrath to offer up beauty advice, and the actress says that the make-up artist has influenced many of her personal product choices.
"She showed me the dual eyeshadow pens that are great and so easy to use," she said. "I have all the mascaras and I love them. I think they're the best mascaras, better than any others I've used."
