ANALYSIS OF IMAGES

The advert above is an advert of Estee Lauder, a lipstick and an eyeshadow at the same time. I think it is a very clever way of advertising a product (or two in this case), because it shows you the complete look that you could go for! In my opinion this is very helpful for people that are not very good at matching colours of eyeshadow and lipstick.

It is very clear what the main focus in this photo is, because of the way the model is posing. She has her hand on her lips, which automatically draws our attention to that part of her face. The eyes are also a big part of this photo, because they are very bold, very much emphasised. The background is also purple, which creates a concept in our heads. I like the fact that the hair isn't show in this photograph because it would be simply too much.. By looking at this advert I now have an idea of what to do and what to avoid while taking my own photograph.

The lighting is very much focused on the model, from what I can see a soft box had been used to take this photograph, with the help of a reflector.

This advert shows Mick Jagger's (founder of The Rolling Stones) daughter wearing Rimmel's 3D- licious lip gloss. We see a reference of that through the glasses. Not literally of course.. A union jack symbolises her relationship with Britain. This is very interesting as I feel like it creates this hidden message, and a deeper meaning to this photo. She looks very young, very attractive, there is loads of pink involved in this photo, it is very girly. This makes me think the photo is aimed at girls, young to mid aged who are fun and quite feminine.

Because of the fact that everything around this model is pink or a shade of pink, we look for the same colour on her face. Subconsciously, it makes us look at her lips straight away. This proves that this technique definitely works and is something I would want to use when creating my own work.

The kind of lighting in this photo is what I aim for almost every time I am in the studio photographing my work. Her face looks very well lit with no shadow just strong contour.

The advert above shows three products from the 2015 Chanel collection - a nail polish, highlighter and a red lipstick. The lighting in this photo very much reflects the quality of natural sun light, which gives this image a sense of realism. It looks like the model in sunbathing and that's what is giving her this natural glow, when actually it is the highlighter. The red lipstick makes her look very sophisticated which is what Chanel tends to represent as a brand. We can't really see much of her outfit however, what we can see is that it is black and we all know black represents class and sophistication.

Overall, I think it is good to look at images produced by different brands, as it gives me a lot of inspiration and helps me to understand stories behind every advert, every make up look and concept. Now I have an idea about the sort of lighting I would like to use for both of my AD shoots, which is extremely helpful.
