PLAITS

Equipment needed:
- Hair brush
- Sectioning combe
- Hair clips

Step by step:

- Brush the hair thoroughly
-  Section the hair into 7 sections
- Leave the front two sections out
- Start the plait using the 5 sections at the back of the head
-  Use the outside parts of the hair and plait them towards the inside
** this will make you end up with a plait pictured below:

Next, take the piece from the front side of the head and separate it into 3 pieces.
** Take the right hand side piece of the hair and incorporate it into the main plait by pulling through the right side of the plait through the main one.

Ladder plait

Step by step:
- Do a French plait on top (starting like a normal plait then leaving bits out and giving them to your model so that you can use them later.)
- Next, you have to do the same thing, using the ''left over'' pieces of hair from the plait on top

Overall, I am very happy with the final outcomes! Although I did find it very challenging, because of my poor hand coordination, however that will come with practise and the more I do them, the easier it will get! I really like the effect these plaits give, and they are very fashionable at the moment, which makes me want to include them in one of my designs.

PRESENTATION

Below I have posted screen shots of my presentation about my chosen brand- Max Factor. I also included ideas for my shoots, inspirations and the history of the brand.

The first editorial shoot that I want to do I want to be jungle themed. I want to include a lot of greenery in my shots, and I want the photograph to reflect the classy element that Max Factor always demonstrates through their work.

FACE & HAIR CHARTS FOR EDITORIAL

Yellow tends to symbolise sun, so I decided to use yellow eyeshadow for this look! Bright lips are very trendy at the moment, so I decided to combine the two together with a dewy base.

This look is a very simple one. I decided to make the eyeliner the main focus.. I might also add very big lashes and put gloss on the lips in order to create this very temporary and fun effect!

This look is one of my favourites and it based it around big, false lashes as Max Factor has won many awards for their mascaras.

This look in my opinion is the bravest. There is a lot of colour, and the eyelashes are very big, also. However, I think it would be very fun to create and would look very good in photos.

FACE & HAIR CHARTS FOR CATWALK

This look is very arty, and one of my favourites. However, after finishing this face chart I realised that it's lacking that Max Factor feel...

So I decided to create this face chart:

However, I would probably have to use feathers to place on the forehead. I really like this look and think that it meets the brief really well, however I expect a lot of people to play with blues and make it their primary colour so I would much rather do something that will stand out!

This look is very natural with the contour being the dominant element.

This look is very interesting I think... it includes eyeliner which is the main focus of most Max Factor looks, and an orange lip which is going to be very fashionable this season!

This is probably the look that I am going to go for as it really goes with my vision for this shoot... I want it to be very natural, with a hint of blue in order to reflect the trends.

FACE & HAIR CHARTS FOR ADVERTS

I have very much enjoyed creating these face charts... I know what kind of products my adverts will include, so it was quite easy thinking of designs and ideas.

The face chart below will be used to advertise Max Factor's second skin foundation, therefore I decided to create a look that is very natural!

This look is very fresh. I am going to try and find a model with freckles, because they are one of the trends this season. I want to base this look around nude colours and make it very neutral, and base it all around skin.

This look is very elegant and classy... I feel like smokey eyes suit the jungle theme very well. I want to keep the skin very fresh and dewy! I went for plum lips, because I do feel like Max factor very often matches dark eyes with dark lipstick. I went for plum because it is not red but it's still very feminine.

This is a look based around pink, and flowers, which I would probably put in the hair. This look would advertise lipstick. I have chosen pink because it is summery and very girlie!

This look is a lot more exotic and would advertise eyeshadow. Sun set inspired me to create this look, which I think is really interesting because I found it so much easier when it came to choosing colours etc., to go with this look! It is definitely something I will try to do more often.

EYE SHAPES & EYELINER

Equipement needed:

- Eyeshadow brushes

Products needed:

- Black eyeliner
- Eyeshadow

The look below shows the eyeshadow smudged with a drastic eyeliner which I have blurred in with the blue eyeshadow which reflects the latest trends.

Here I have added a bit of gloss in order to create this very modern effect!

This is a simple eyeliner line done using liquid liner

LIPS

Equipment needed:

-  Lip brushes

Products needed:

- Concealer pallett
- Lip pallete
- Nude lipsticks
- Red lipsticks
- Clear lip gloss
- Lip balm

Step by step:

** remember to moisturise and prep the lips before applying any other products onto the lips

1) First look I did on my model was a nude lip.

2) The design above is a smudged red lip, which would be appropriate for a catwalk. I used my fingers to dub the lipstick onto the model's lips in order to create that messy effect

3) Next  created a neat red lip, which is going to be one of the trends in spring/summer 2016

4) The lip below is an abstract version of a red lip that I created to make it more interesting

My thoughts

I have found this session very interesting, but also quite challenging. A red lip, is one of the hardest things to do, because of the fact that they have to be symmetrical, and if they are not then it is very visible. I have also decided to apply glitter onto my model's lips towards the end of the session to challenge myself even further. I am quite happy with the results, and feel confident when it comes to creating a classy, red lip, which is still very popular.

5 Ps OF MAX FACTOR

https://bdjbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Products-copy.jpg

PRICE

When it comes to the price of Max Factor products, it definitely could be called affordable. You can find their products in every high street make up store, which makes it also very accessible, for people that can't afford high end products such as Dior or Chanel.

PRODUCT

s1600/Maxfactor%2Bpromotion.jpg
Max Factor offers a wide range of products for face, eyes, lips and nails, all for a good price. It is known to be a rival for companies that charge more but offer the same sort of products of similar quality such as maybelline or rimmel.

PROMOTION

Max Factor mostly promotes it self in magazines, i.e. adverts. It also uses make up artists to suggest that it is very much a professional make up brand which builds trust between the brand and its consumers. This is because we think 'if make up artists use it, it must be good'. And it is true, Max Factor is one of the best high street brands.

PLACE

Like I have mentioned above, this brand has its own counters in shops such as Debenhams, Superdrug or Boots. It is everywhere, which makes it so easy for people to purchase their products. For instance if Boots doesn't have your shade of foundation, you know that if you go to Debenhams, you'll be more then likely to get it there. This makes the brand very flexible and makes it very convenient for the consumers, also.

PEOPLE

Max Factor's art director is one of the most famous make up artists- Pat McGrath. This proves that their slogan is true (make-up for make up artists), and that they truly believe what they say. Pat has worked for the company for years, which means she is very committed but also that the brand it worth committing to.

"For Pat, the face is a place for experimentation. Her editorial work continually breaks new ground, and she regularly collaborates with iconic photographer Steven Meisel on major fashion campaigns for Prada, Balenciaga, Calvin Klein, Valentino, Versace and more. Pat has also worked with world-renowned photographers Helmut Newton, Irving Penn and Paolo Roversi.
Since 2004, Pat has been Max Factor’s Global Creative Design Director, contributing to the design and direction of colour trend collections as well as the development of products and technologies."

STAR WARS' PARTNERSHIP WITH MAX FACTOR

With the come back of Star Wars, came a new Max Factor make up line, which got everyone excited.

" Droid, which was inspired by C-P3O, sees a model doused in gold-coloured face paint. Her eyes are rimmed with metallic eye liner and her hair is slicked back using gold hairspray."- Daily Mail

Max Factor'screative director who happens to be one of the world's famous make up artists - Pat McGrath, who has designed the most famous looks and worked on world's famous models, has created six very interesting looks.

On the famous films, Pat said: ''I watched my first film as a young girl and, like the rest of the world, was completely blown away.

'I immediately fell in love with the storyline, the never-before-seen special effects, and the amazing hair, make-up, and wardrobe of Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, Hans Solo, Darth Vader, and all of the other characters.

'I've watched all of the films and I've been waiting for years for The Force Awakens.'

Two of her looks have been released so far, with one representing good and the other evil.

Droid, which was inspired by C-P3O, sees a model doused in gold-coloured face paint. Her eyes are rimmed with metallic eye liner and her hair is slicked back using gold hairspray.

Pat said she wanted her to look beautiful, 'with strong gold eyes and gold lips.'

On the darker guise, which was based on Darth Varder's evil soldiers, the model sports triangular-shaped black eye liner that is drawn towards her ears.

Her eyebrows are vamped up with black eye pencil and her hair is styled into a dramatic, blunt peroxide bob.

'Stormtrooper is a soldier, so this makeup look is intercut with a graphic eye. The look is structured with a very dark berry lip,' added Pat.

The futuristic make-up looks were inspired by key themes in the upcoming film with the transformation of characters and the exploration of both their dark and light sides.

'Make-up is all about transformation and self-expression, and – with the looks inspired by the film – Max Factor will celebrate the gorgeous, awe-inspiring glamour of each look, helping women recreate this glamour themselves,' said Esi Eggleston-Bracey, Vice President of Global Cosmetics at P&G.

The much-anticipated Star Wars Episode VII - The Force Awakens, will see Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and more reprising their key roles, alongside new castings such as Lupita Nyong'o and Andy Serkis.

The full range of products, which are expected to hit UK stores in November, has not yet been released.
