Pat McGrath has to be one of the most influential make up artists right now. I wanted to look at her work as she is also Max Factor's art director. She is very often a part of fashion shows, which is what I need to look at in order to see her style, because that is what Max Factor at the moment is based on. She essentially is the person that creates most of the looks for London Fashion Weeks, which all the brands are inspired by. Pat can create looks which are very minimum, but she is also able of designing a look that will take your breath away!
This is a look from the Dolce & Gabbana fashion show, spring/summer 2016. It is very feminine, she has a flower crown on her head, which creates this very gentle theme. This is the kind of a look, I would like to do for one of my catwalk looks. Even though the lips look quite bold, we can see that Pat did not use a liner, but instead dubbed the lipstick onto the lips, to create this very gentle but effective effect.
The hair has been made to look very natural and feminine also, which just shows how much Pat has thought about this look as a whole, making it very effective.
The eyeshadow is not very visible in this photo, however we can see that it has slightly changed the shape of the model's eyes which is very interesting!
This picture is from a Roberto Cavalli fashion show and shows a make up look that has purposely been based on skin. We can see that it is very glowy, dewy and represents the brand very well, as it is known to be quite sophisticated and classy. I personally think Pat has done a great job, contouring the cheekbones in a very natural, healthy looking way.
The look on the left is from one of Prada shows and represents a spring/summer 2016 look. We can see that Pat wanted to make this look more artistic then previous looks mentioned above. A gold lip is not something you see on an everyday basis, walking down the street so it is definitely quite abstract. A gold is Max Factor's main colour, so I am hoping to incorporate that into my own work, when doing my own shoots.
The hair is something that I find really interesting, because it does not look wet, but it almost looks like it has been stuck to the face of the model. This creates a very 'catwalk' effect and works very well. This is one of the looks were we see that Pat tried to focus on the skin, also.

This is a look from the Givenchy fashion show spring/summer 2016. We can see that Pat has included some jewels in order to create this very fashion orientated look. I feel like it reflects the magnificent idea of the brand and works really well as a catwalk look. Even though the make up is not the main thing in this photograph, we can still see how Pat focused on the skin in order to make it look flawless. This is something I do not want to forget when creating my catwalk looks because it certainly betters the quality of the whole look, and makes it look a lot more professional.
We can see that the hair has been tied back to not take the audience attention from the artwork on the model's face and for it to be the centre of attention at all times.
This look is from the same fashion show, but I had to include it in this post because it is certainly one of my favourites and reflects my style. However, I feel like the concept of it is way too ''much'' for Max Factor, because it is too vulgar and lacks sophistication. The hair is one elements of this picture that I would like to transform into my own idea, and see what I can do with it, as it seems to be very popular in the current catwalk season. It looks very simple, but not boring and that it definitely something I would like to avoid when creating my own ideas.

The look on the right is a Versace look created by Pat from the spring/summer 2015 collection and it is the one which reflects the idea of Max Factor the most. The way in which the liner has been drawn on the eyes is something that we would definitely see on a Max Factor advert or an editorial shot. The nude lips compliment the dark eyes and create a very soft but edgy at the same time effect which overall is the definition of Max Factor. This is something I definitely have gain inspiration from, and by changing the colours and adding my own ideas to it, I could create a very effective look from. I also really like how Pat used the model's natural freckles in order to make this look a bit more interesting.
